This poor dog with broken legs needed special attention… Read his story here!

Deuce is a sweet puppy and a wonderful kid who is adored and cherished by his father, Domenick. Deuce is also a walking miracle, as the pain and strength he had to undergo in order to survive are mind-boggling. Both of Deuce’s left legs were fractured, infected, and things did not look good when he was discovered as a stray dog along the roadside in a Kentucky ditch.

Nobody knows how Deuce was rescued, but he was picked up off the street and sent to the Camp Jean Rescue Center, where rescuers tried to preserve his life. First and primarily, the dog was treated medically. The decision was made to amputate Deuce’s front left and rear left legs in order for him to have a fighting chance.

After multiple surgeries, Jean of Camp Jean made the decision to find Deuce a wonderful home. Deuce, Jean thought, had a wonderful personality and unique attributes that would make him an ideal therapy dog. She eventually came across Domenick after doing some research online and discovering that he already owned two two-legged dogs. Lucky and Cyrus are both two-legged canines who have been trained and certified as therapy dogs.

Deuce was an instant hit with Domenick’s dogs. Because Lucky has the front legs and Deuce has the back legs, the two have created an unbelievable friendship. They like to stay out at home and enjoy each other’s company. They play and sleep together. Nothing, according to Domenick, can stop Deuce, who walks and runs with ease and has defied the odds. As a registered therapy dog, he now visits two hospitals.

Congratulations, Deuce, and a special thank you to Domenick and everybody who helps special-needs canines get a new lease on life!
