All dogs have a particular place in their owners’ hearts, but Sadie, a 6-year-old German Shepherd, is one of those extremely special canines who makes international news.
The brave dog did something for her master that saved his life. When the man (called Brian) suffered a stroke and fainted in his New Jersey home, Sadie performed something truly incredible.
Sadie not only stayed by his side, but she also licked his face to keep him awake, dragged him across the room to his phone, and waited by his side until Brian dialed 911. Brian had only known Sadie for a few months when she entered his life.
When her former owner moved, she was surrendered to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge. She was befuddled and “lost” at the shelter after losing the only family she had ever known and loved.
“Sadie is a loyal dog, but timid and protective with new people, making her a more difficult placement,” the rescue says. Brian entered Sadie’s life only a few months ago and chose to adopt her. Despite the fact that her bio stated that she was particularly nervous about men, Brian felt a special link with Sadie because he admired her intelligence, apprehension to trust, and fierce loyalty once she did.”
Brian is currently undergoing treatment in a rehabilitation facility, and Sadie is staying with family members until he is released. Sadie, congrats on being an incredible hero and saving your father’s life.
