A 5-month-old Nora Hall suffered a catastrophic stroke that left her with severe brain damage.

She had pulmonary hypertension since birth, it was subsequently discovered. She was running out of time. She was placed into a medically induced coma for the next three weeks.

In barely 5 months, Nora had captured the hearts of her two Basset Hounds, Gracie and Grumpy. “Gracie, especially, took on the role of second mom,” Mary Hall told ABC News. “Whenever Nora sobbed, Gracie would rush to see what was wrong. ” She was always there for Nora, touching her and making sure she was okay.”

As the family prepared to say their final goodbyes to Nora, the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis inquired if they had any final demands. Nora’s parents eagerly responded, “Yes.” They wanted to know if their 2 dogs could say their goodbyes to their new baby girl.

“I said, ‘We’d really enjoy it if you could let us bring our dogs to the hospital,'” Hall continued. “I didn’t want to go home and have them look for her without knowing where she was.” They lowered the bed so the dogs could sleep with her, and Gracie leaped up and licked her.”

“It was wonderful,” Mary replied. “It gave us a lot of peace of mind.”

Every day, Gracie and Grumpy provide comfort to their family. Sweet Nora, may you rest in peace…
