Shortcake was discovered in Jackson, Mississippi, under a bloodstained shed. The dog was on the verge of being killed by a monster, but she managed to save herself.
Coco’s House Sanctuary and Rescue discovered her hungry and clearly neglected before shooting her. Shortcake was also wounded in the chest and feet.
Shortcake’s feet had to be amputated after surgeons failed to save them due to bone deterioration and a lack of blood flow.
“We are concentrating on using her legs to move instead of army crawling like she loves to do,” Coco’s House wrote on Facebook. Each day, she’s getting closer to getting her new legs!”
Shortcake’s physical therapy team has been working with her to gain strength on top of laser therapy, bandage changes, and rehab.
