This South Carolina woman chose the cutest method to pay respect to her late dog, and her heartfelt words went viral!
Sallie Gregory Hammett has always been close friends with her pet Golden Retriever. So, when Charlie, the 7-year-old, crossed the rainbow, the human who had stood behind him for all those years was understandably heartbroken. Sallie, on the other hand, chose to pay tribute to her dog by writing his own obituary.
“I’ve always liked writing,” the 30-year-old lady told HuffPost. “When Charlie died, it was just so devastating that I needed to do something cathartic.” “I know it’s cliche, but he was my best buddy,” says the speaker. He accompanied me everywhere and was always a source of comfort, companionship, and delight.”
Sallie’s family pushed her to post the touching remarks on social media when they were published in the newspaper. But she had no idea that her tweet would become viral just a few days later.
“If we’re being honest, Charlie enjoyed everything about life (except the stairs).” He despised stairs),” says the woman’s touching tribute. “ He was skilled at a lot of things, but unconditional love was his strongest suit. Charlie adored his mother above anything else. He would always greet her with kisses and a tight grasp on her arm… He was by her side at all times.
“Charlie spent his final days at the beach, his favorite spot. The woman writes, “He rested in the Charlie-sized holes he dug himself and drove straight into the oncoming waves.” “His final days were filled with joy and will be remembered for the rest of his life.
“He will be missed and remembered for the rest of his life, but he left behind a tremendous affection that never wavered. In place of flowers, the family requests that you lavish extra love on all of your dogs in memory of Charlie,” Sallie ended…
