Imagine getting maggots in your nose, inability to urinate, and feces strewn across your thick fur coat. That’s how a four-year-old Great Pyrenees pup lived before police intervened.
As he had done countless times before, a Putnam County Dog Control officer located the animal running free in the Hudson Valley area of New York. Since the dog was in such horrible shape due to mistreatment, he traveled to Carmel Animal Hospital for assistance.
Large, thick mats grew throughout the dog’s fur, making it impossible for the dog to pass pee. His nails curled downwards towards his paws and were extremely lengthy. Maggots began crawling out of his nostril area because of the dirty conditions in which it lived.
As a result, Putnam County SPCA officers arrested Omer Fahim, 30, for animal abuse and neglect.
The dog was cleaned, groomed, and veterinary treatment was given to him. Once his vet care is completed, he will be adopted by a Great Pyrenees rescue group.
We appreciate the officer who stepped in to assist this helpless cat.
