Foster parents have a unique role to play in society. That role is to be a temporary owner of a dog, provide love and care for him or her, and then relinquish the dog to their forever home. Nicki Clawson fell in love with a puppy she fostered for Northwest Boxer Rescue. Cookie, the dog, had to go to her forever home at some point.
Nicki took the dog and waited anxiously for the joyful family to arrive at the meetup location, tears in her eyes. When the foster children leave for their new home, it is always a bittersweet experience. She had no idea she was being set up by the rescue organization.
She was given a packet including the adopted family’s phone number. She was overcome with emotion as she sat on the pavement with Cookie at her side, ready to call.
Nicki began to cry as she realized what was going on. Nicki was given the puppy by the rescue organization because she adored her.
