A house fire was recorded in Melbourne, Australia, on an awful day. Firefighters responded quickly because time was of the essence in such situations.
The family had successfully escaped the fire with one of their dogs, Barney, by the time they arrived. However, their second dog, Leo, remained locked inside.
Firefighters raced in and began searching the residence. They searched every nook and cranny but to no avail. Until one of them noticed something in one of the rooms and alerted the others. Can you guess who it was? It had to be Leo!
He was lying in the middle of the room, unconscious. The firefighters carefully pulled him up, only to discover four small kittens beneath him.
To save the small kittens from the flames, Leo had laid on them. This heroic dog was willing to lay down his life to safeguard the kittens with whom he shared a parental relationship. Dogs can catch you off guard at times!
Leo was given oxygen and slowly nursed back to awareness after Leo and the kittens were securely transferred outside. He was still hesitant and wary, though. He was concerned about the safety of his kittens. Once the firefighters brought the kittens to Leo, he was ecstatic to find them safe and started showering them with unconditional love, forgetting that moments previously he had almost died! I’m not sure what else to call it if that isn’t love!
