Roadie has come a long way after being dumped and chained to a tree in Indiana.
Roadie was carrying a plastic bottle with a note from her owner expressing her need for a nice home with plenty of love. Her owner said that COVID-19 cost him his home and career and that he had no choice but to surrender her.
Roadie did indeed find a loving home and has since been assigned a unique job!
Her deep eyes caught White River Township Fire Chief Jeremy Pell off guard when he first saw her…
He’d been looking for a new Search and Rescue K9 for his department, and the two-year-old Shepherd mix seemed like the perfect fit.
Chief Pell named her “Rosie” when she was adopted from the Johnson County Animal Shelter.
Rosie has been given a second chance at life and a career that will help others.
Both the White River Township Fire Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department are now training her to be a Search and Rescue dog.
According to Chief Pell, Rosie is knowledgeable and has the perfect disposition for a Search and Rescue dog.
She’s neither overly lively nor overly quiet, which is just what a SAR dog needs.
Rosie comes home with Chief Pell when her day’s training is completed, where she is treasured and spoiled…
