The Perez family of Raymondville, Texas, is battling to reclaim their dog, which was adopted out to another family by the city’s animal control department.
Snowflake, who they had rescued from the Texas floods in June, got loose and went away the week before Thanksgiving. The family looked for hours but came up empty-handed.
He ended up in the city’s animal control, where he was adopted out to another family before the Perez family was supposedly given an opportunity to claim him.
Hector Perez, Snowflakes’ father, told KRGV through tears how much his family misses their precious puppy.
According to Perez, the shelter admits they made a mistake and informed him that Snowflake’s new adoptive family does not want him back.
Despite his best efforts, including communicating with Raymondville’s police chief, the Perez family has yet to reclaim Snowflake.
The worst part, according to Perez, is that Snowflake’s new family lives close.
“I can hear him bark if you whistle,” he told KRGV. “He is a member of our family and belongs to us.”
The event is currently being investigated by the city attorney, and Perez is weighing his options. Snowflake should be reunited with his family by Christmas, according to Perez…
