In Carmichael on Wednesday night, a lovely scene was captured on camera as a family’s dog came back to life.
After a house on a quiet road caught fire yesterday night, firefighters successfully performed CPR on a dog. The video of this rescue is being watched by animal lovers all around the world. Fortunately, the dog is saved, and the story ends happily. When firefighters arrived on the site, they discovered a fire in one of the bedrooms.
They recovered the wheelchair-bound owner, who informed them that her pet dog was still missing. We can see the moment firefighters discovered the dog, Dicky, under a bed, thanks to the helmet camera. He didn’t respond at all. Crews began performing CPR and gave Dicky oxygen to save his life.
Dicky was not moving at all while personnel worked on him. Fortunately, the firefighters knew exactly what they needed to accomplish. The dog had regained consciousness and was performing normally after approximately five or ten minutes. It’s not every day that firemen have the chance to save a dog from certain death. You can bet it feels fantastic. Dicky is owned by a 90-year-old Carmichael woman who is overjoyed to get him back.
Dicky was given oxygen by firefighters using a special pet mask, according to firefighters. Because a dog’s snout is shaped differently than a human face, it’s what they need to use.
Several of these pet masks, ranging in size from Great Dane to a small dog, are carried by fire vehicles.
