A stray Labrador sets out on a 1,000-mile journey to find joy… Read the story here…

Hope For Paws, a Beverly Hills-based rescue organization, received a complaint from a homeless gentle giant. He was having trouble surviving on the streets.

When Hope For Paws arrived at the location where the dog had been spotted, he discovered him sleeping quietly on the pavement. He did not flee when they approached him, instead gladly devouring the cheeseburger they offered him. The volunteer gently looped a leash around his neck after a few moments of caressing and feeding.

Because of his stature, they chose to name him Everest. “Even though he appears to be a huge guy, Everest is actually incredibly emaciated, and he was not doing well on the streets,” Hope For Paws wrote on Facebook. The gentle giant was brought in for a bath and a health exam as the first step.

While bathing him, the volunteers discovered several foxtails stuck in his fur. Each one has to be taken out one at a time. Everest appeared gloomy, with no signs of enthusiasm or excitement. He was fatigued after his wash and slept well for the first time in months.

“He is the most zen dog,” one volunteer stated. Everest was a sociable cat in search of a forever home. Everest found the ideal connection when a couple from Oregon completed an adoption application. Bonnie and Clyde are the couple’s other dogs, with Clyde serving as a therapy dog. Everest piqued their interest, and they planned to train him as a therapy dog as well.

Everest was on his way to his new home, a 1,000-mile adventure. From Los Angeles to Oregon, the volunteers who saved him from the streets flew with him. Everest was greeted by his new brother and sister as soon as they arrived at his new home.

Everest was pleased with the quick connection. Everest’s mischievous temperament was brought out by the snow. He played in and with the snow, only pausing to eat a small amount before continuing on his way. He knew he’d arrived at his destination, and he couldn’t be happier.

“I have never seen a dog come home that quickly,” the volunteer said. When Everest and Clyde visit youngsters in the hospital after completing their therapy training, they will bring smiles to their faces. What a wonderful conclusion for everyone!
