With only several days left to live, a homeless dog named Edie was scheduled for extermination. When Hope For Paws rescuer Eldad Hagar intervened, Edie was on the point of being put to sleep because the shelter deemed him “too violent.”
Eldad carefully patted a leash around her as she cowered in a corner, and her yelps indicated her unease. She was so terrified that she defecated, her shouts signaling her distress.
As Eldad reached out to comfort Edie, it became clear that he had a deeper yearning. The dog was calm and tamed in the man’s arms after only a few strokes.
Edie simply required the soothing touch of a compassionate human to break through her aggressive shell.
Edie was taken to a Hope For Paws shelter where she was groomed and treated by kind hands after being tamed and spared from death just minutes before her time was up.
Bronwyn Mirkovich was able to adopt Edie from Hope For Paws less than a week later, giving her a new lease on life and much-needed love. During her long drive to San Marino, where she found her forever home, Mirkovich captured Edie enjoying the California sun.
