“Ugly” Dog thought her time was over until… Read this story to find out where he ended up!

When Aimee the Pit Bull arrived at Carson Animal Care Center in California, she was just 6 months old. It was clear that she had been subjected to a great deal of abuse. Her sick skin was rotting in parts, and she was clearly in excruciating pain.

Aimee was described as one of the “friendliest” dogs ever by the shelter personnel. However, it was evident that Aimee was terrified by the other frightened dogs’ loud, tense barks. Aimee began to believe that an “ugly” dog like her would never find a home, even after the vets treated her skin illness.

As Aimee’s turn on the kill list grew nearer, the employees decided to put in extra effort for her in order to improve her chances of adoption. They gave her a bright blanket and took a cute photo of her to post on social media. People spotted Aimee’s sad and sorrowful face despite the contrasting bright environment, and the photo quickly went viral.

Aimee was quickly adopted by a family who came to the shelter! Her new family has given her the name Phoenix to represent her fresh start in life. Phoenix appears to be the happiest girl in this freedom run video posted by the shelter, as she rushes out of the facility and to her new home. It’s no surprise that the shelter employees refer to her as the “cutest little hippo”!

Watch Phoenix’s stunning freedom run as she leaves the shelter for good in the video below!
