His family left this dog alone after promising they would come back… The lonely dog is now… Read to find out the rest!

Many dogs are adopted as puppies, becoming a part of the family and growing up with them, but as they reach old age, they do not appear to be receiving the care they deserve.

After being spotted by animal control officers, Lindsy, an adorable puppy, was transferred to the Babylon Animal Shelter in New York.

After being accepted, the shelter was surprised to get a call from a girl claiming to be from Lindsy’s adopted parents, claiming that they had not abandoned her but that she had wandered away from the home and that they would be there to pick her up as soon as her dad arrived.

The staff was hopeful that someone would come along and adopt the poor dog. Still, it became evident after a while that the family had abandoned Lindsy as she was getting older, and older dogs need more care and attention. Hence, people abandon them on the roads after having them as family members for several years.

Staff says Lindsy has a bouncy attitude and likes being around people, so they were certain she’d find a permanent home quickly. However, things didn’t go as planned for the poor puppy, and she’s still at the shelter after two years.

Lindsey is now an elderly dog, and senior dogs have a hard time finding new homes because people prefer puppies and younger dogs.

Please consider adopting elderly pets as well; every dog deserves a loving household…
