Workers of the Johnson County Dog Shelter in Indianapolis found the dog.
The shepherd sat by himself, tethered to a tree.
He wore a collar around his neck, on which his former owner had attached a message explaining why he had done such a cruel thing.
The dog’s name was Roadie, and he was one of 10 puppies in the litter.
According to the man, a smart shepherd dog learns all the fundamental commands, enjoys playing, chewing toys, and even tearing them apart if they produce a squeak.
He also claimed to have spayed, vaccinated and treated a pet for parasites.
The proprietor of Roadie lost his job and then his home as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
The man couldn’t keep his pet contained any longer.
In a note, he revealed that he previously pampered Roadie with steaks, chicken, and lamb.
There was even a bed and memory foam mattress for the dog! However, all of this opulence is no longer available.
The man begged the Roadie finder to assist him in finding a new house in his letter.
He wished that someone else could feel the same way for his dog as he did.
Employees at the shelter shared a photo of a shepherd dog with notes from his owner on their Facebook page, which drew a lot of attention.
Many of them stated in the comments that they couldn’t hold back their tears when reading the desperate man’s message.
The shelter began receiving applications from people who wanted to adopt Roadie the day after the article was published. The shepherd will soon be delivered to his new owners.
Michael Delp, the shelter’s director, was moved by the story of Roadie and warned pet owners not to abandon their animals on the street, where they would perish.
If the puppy had not been discovered in time, wolves or coyotes could have attacked him, or he could have been crushed under the wheels of a car, according to him.
If necessary, he recommends finding a new home for your pet or seeking assistance from a local shelter.
