Cali’s two-year-old labor has turned into a real adventure for her owners.
The dog was supposed to have six or eight puppies based on what the doctor saw on the ultrasound, but up to 20 little bulldogs were born.
The birth took around a day, and the dog’s owner, Amber Rees, 20, said there was a lot of pandemonium in their house during that time.
Kali began to breathe fast and intermittently on the night of March 18, the girl noted.
The dog became nervous, and the first puppy was born.
Others trailed behind him.
Amber sighed peacefully as Cali gave birth to her eighth puppy, waiting for the process to be completed, but it was evident from the dog’s appearance that the delivery process was well underway.
Cali calmed down after the twelfth puppy, and her family went to the veterinarian clinic right away.
The dog was given a medicine that made the contractions stronger, and the young mother was able to give birth to eight more puppies as a result.
Despite the greatest efforts of the doctors, nine puppies did not make it.
The other eleven are in perfect health.
According to Amber, such lengthy and painful labor was a true test for Cali, who was giving birth for the first time.
The dog lay for several days while she regained her senses.
But now the young mother’s vigor has returned, and she spends her days caring for her big family.
They didn’t name the puppies – except for the last one, who was named Bambi after a deer from a Disney fairy tale.
The woman intends to rehome the bulldogs once they reach adulthood.
