Stray dogs are frowned upon in many areas of the world, including, tragically, here in the United States. That is, assuming they are ever recognized. Thankfully, there are animal advocates who believe that ALL dogs deserve to be loved.
Animal Aid is one of those incredible organizations that never ceases to amaze us. They got a report one day that a street dog had been hit by a car. He was unable to stand because of his injuries. “He couldn’t comprehend why his legs wouldn’t work anymore,” the group said in their YouTube video. It was awful to see him sitting there.
The dog dragged his body along as he sought to move. Workers from Animal Aid came on the scene with good intentions, but the dog wasn’t sure if they were there to help him. Their contact made him squirm. Aside from being hit by a car, it was clear that this poor, vulnerable creature had been mistreated.
He did, however, gradually allow the rescuer to pet him. Did he now grasp that the stranger was attempting to alleviate his suffering? The rescuer then sought to flee as he made his move to grab the dog. He couldn’t recognize the genuine nature of the man’s motives because of his past trauma. He hid under a car, but the savior was determined to find him.
The dog was apprehended and taken to the Animal Aid hospital. He finally calmed down after that. The medical team examined his physique and decided that he had sustained major spinal damage. That was the source of his inability to walk!
His injuries were life-threatening. However, the crew was still interested in seeing if the dog could retrain his legs. They knew there would be a long road ahead, but they believed he was worth the effort. He’d require plenty of rest, a healthy diet, and physical rehabilitation. He was described as a wonderful little patient by the workers.
His muscles were massaged and his joints were strengthened by the personnel. They also trained his tiny body how to bear weight on his legs once more.
“Little by little, his toes stopped curling backward,” the video states. He couldn’t take it any longer. But his carers never gave up…”
Then, all of a sudden, BAM! The dog, now named Georgie, underwent a spectacular metamorphosis thanks to patience, time, and a lot of hard work!
Georgie can sit, stand, and play all at the same time!!! He even enjoys rolling around in the dirt. He is, without a doubt, a typical, joyful dog!
What a source of motivation! Georgie has gone a long way since she was a child! Isn’t it wonderful to know that there are people out there who never give up?
