Where is the joy when you’re missing out on everything? That’s what this rescue dog thought when he realized how dull his life had become. So he figured out how to get out of his kennel one night and hosted a wild mini-party. But, because he didn’t have any visitors, he decided to bring some squeaky toys he could find. The end result was a complete disaster, but at least he got viral on the internet!
Gilligan, who has been at the Bedford County Humane Society in Pennsylvania since he was a puppy, has always been a good boy. As a result, he was promoted to office greeter by the workers. However, he later demonstrated that he has a dark side, that of a party animal. The dog managed to breach the kennel door and get out one night earlier this month after everybody on staff had gone home. It was at this point that the party began!
Gilligan first wanted to make sure no one from the employees was left inside before going after the toys. Everyone in the room burst out laughing at what happened next.
“He checked the building for a long time to see whether anyone was in it,” Joyce Ross, a volunteer at the shelter, told THE DODO. “When he realized he was alone, he immediately went for the toys.” He took them out of the pile of Christmas donations we had just got and brought them into the hallway to play with them and pull the squeakers out.”
When everyone returned to work the next morning, they couldn’t explain what had happened. However, as they examined the security camera tape, all became evident. Despite the fact that he damaged nearly all of the toys, no one was furious with Gill. They were all laughing about it.
Ross remarked, “Everyone in the shelter thought it was funny.” “First, we went through all of the toys to see if there were any survivors that could be repurposed. He didn’t bother with the ones that didn’t have a squeaker because that’s what he was looking for. The cleanup was rather simple once we collected some of the items that could be repurposed.”
Furthermore, the team decided to post the ‘aftermath’ films online, where they quickly became quite popular, with many people falling in love with Gill’s small party.
“What a fantastic way to show off our shelter and show folks that we have great pets,” Ross added. “We got a call from a lady who said she wanted to buy Gilligan a toy every month for the rest of his life,” says the narrator.
