Litter technicians from the Indiana Department of Transportation were cleaning an Indiana highway when they came across an unexpected but lovely surprise.
Members came upon a small dog that was alone on the side of the road while cleaning up trash.
They snapped a few pictures with the nice dog before bringing him to safety.
The photos were shared on the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Facebook page, and one of the crew members claimed that he had taken the puppy home and will get him microchipped as soon as possible.
It’s unknown whether the puppy was abandoned by its owner or was born as a stray. Without food or water, he would not have survived much longer on the side of the road, so he is now secure and out of harm’s way.
If the dog does not have a microchip and its owner cannot be found, it will be placed for adoption or adopted by a team member!
