A three-year-old female dog was tossed in a container outside a shelter, malnourished, and covered in open wounds.
Her grossly swollen head was covered with old and new sores. It was clear that this sweet puppy had been used as a bait dog.
Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs jumped in to assist in the rescue of the adorable little girl. The dog’s discovery alerted the shelter’s cruelty section, which is currently conducting an investigation. Dogfighting is against the law and a felony in all 50 states, yet that doesn’t stop monsters from doing it.
The rescuers whisked her away to an emergency room to begin treatment. They used Facebook to let their followers know about the tragic scenario.
“Bunny arrived at the hospital about 2 p.m. yesterday,” they wrote. Her medical team was able to raise her temperature, but she was anemic, weak, and badly injured. Crawford, the rescue dog, gave her an emergency blood transfusion, and I believe he’s now her maker. She was worm-infested and had severe diarrhea. Her new and old wounds are consistent with her being used as a bait dog. The main issue right now is that some of those injuries are necrotic to the point where she is septic, and she is being treated aggressively with antibiotics to get that under control.”
Seeing the adorable girl in such anguish shattered everyone’s hearts. “Her condition is quite disturbing, and it caused a lot of havoc at the shelter yesterday.” We’re always baffled as to why individuals want to keep animals and treat them in this manner… no animal deserves what Bunny has gone through.”
Bunny’s caregivers continued to update the public on the dog’s condition and solicit donations to help with her medical expenses. Despite the fact that Bunny was in pain, she knew she was finally protected, and she remained cooperative and lovely.
Bunny’s face swelling began to subside as the medications took effect. “Right now, the intention is to treat the infection along with all of the necrotic tissue around the skull and laser the wounds on her legs,” according to an update. The tail, which has exposed bone, is a whole other story; she may have to have it cut.”
This dog has been through a lot, and this is the first time she’s felt a kind touch. Bunny’s body has taken a toll over the last three years of being attacked by other dogs. Her tail is unrepairable, therefore the medical team plans to amputate it next.
“Bunny is three years old, and our hopes are that if she gets through this nightmare, we can find her a loving home, like all dogs should,” shelter employees posted on Facebook.
Despite the fact that this long-suffering dog-faced month of rehabilitation, rescuers refused to give up on him. Bunny was a very different dog a year later, and this joyful, healthy gal was ultimately placed into a loving family!
“I hope you appreciate it was worth the wait when it is eventually YOUR turn,” Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs posted on Facebook. “This young girl has awaited her ultimate beginning her entire life, and tonight she rests her head on her pillow in the safety of her own house.” She’s now a daddy’s girl, and nobody will ever hurt a single hair on Bunny’s head. Bunny, get your dog joy on, you made it!”
