National Factory Dog Rescue rescued a fearful little Chihuahua with huge, floppy ears from a puppy mill, where she had spent the previous three and a half years giving birth to the puppy after puppy. It was her sole purpose in life, and she’d never felt a human’s loving touch.
She pushed herself into the corner of her kennel, afraid and unsure of what was going on.
As a result, a volunteer decided to spend a little time with her and reassure her that everything will be fine. It was awful for Harleigh to be so afraid, but the consoling would be a game-changer. As a new chapter in her life began, she buried her claws into him.
It helped even more when another puppy mill survivor, Harley, joined them. They were all-embracing one another, and they were making considerable progress! The volunteer then sat and waited for Harleigh to approach him. It would take some time and patience, but the sweet girl approached him because she wanted to be near him!
All of this took place in the first hour. Harleigh grew frightened once more after the volunteer had left. They understood it would take some time to permanently change her mindset, but they knew it would be worth it in the end. But what a wonderful start!
