We frequently hear about animals being put down because they were unable to be adopted. Unfortunately, just a few people actually do something about it, something that can make a real difference!

One of those persons is Steve Greig. He has devoted his entire life to finding everlasting homes for animals who have been abandoned. Steve is determined to give all animals a second chance, from geriatric dogs to those with health problems. Don’t get the impression that he just accepts dogs and cats. Steve has also taken in several ducks, pigeons, and a lucky pig.

In actuality, a dozen dogs, a pig, 2 ducks, several cats, a pigeon, a bunny, and a few hens live on his property in Denver, Colorado. And it’s still going. Greig said he has always loved animals and has attempted to protect and care for those in need since he can remember.

The kindhearted man told The Dodo, “I grew up with a lot of pets.” “Both of my parents were animal lovers, and they would almost always give me whatever I wanted as long as I could look after it.”

However, it was when Steve’s beloved dog died that he decided to make it his life’s mission. “It had been a month or two, and I was still feeling terrible about it,” Steve stated. “I came to the conclusion that the only way I’d feel better was if something positive happened.” So I got a 12-year-old Chihuahua as a pet.” And that’s how it all began.

Steve now follows a unique daily schedule. “A typical day for me is getting up at 5 a.m. and making breakfast for all of them,” he explained. “There are ten dogs, and most of them have different diets.”

It’s great to watch a man who cares so much for these helpless people. He claims to have formed a special bond with each of the animals he adopts. “Once you reach a certain age, you kind of know what you want out of life,” he remarked.

“These older dogs are well-aware of who they are, and it’s simple to form a bond with someone or a creature who is well-aware of who they are.” It makes my joy to know that these gorgeous animals are happy, loved, and well-cared for. It adds value to my days.”
