Each day, a cute puppy waits for his owner at the train station for twelve hours…

When his story made the rounds in Chinese news outlets and then on social media, a dog named Xiongxiong had become a global star.

In Chongqing, the dog stays with his owner and walks him to the metro each morning.

The devoted dog then waits for him for 12 hours, until evening, when they both return home.

Xiongxiong, which means “bear” in Chinese, is the name of this dog.

He lives in the city of Chongqing and has recently gained national, if not international, acclaim for his devotion to his owner.

Xiongxiong is a 15-year-old girl. He has been living with his present owner, Mr. Chen, for the past eight years.

Xiongxiong walks his owner to work every morning.

They go together to the subway station, where Mr. Chen enters the subway and the dog sits next to the exit for 12 hours, waiting for his owner.

Locals have always been drawn to the lovely puppy.

Passers-by are continually trying to connect with him, pet him, or feed him, but Xiongxiong seems uninterested.

The dog only comes to life when Mr. Chen emerges from the train and enthusiastically rushes toward him.

The owner greets his dog, and the two of them return home, happily.

“Xiongxiong is so delighted to see me after work that it fills me with joy,” the dog’s owner says. “I don’t feel as fatigued when I see him.”

A story about Xiongxiong that aired on a local news program quickly went viral on social media.

Users were astounded by the dog’s devotion, dubbing it “the new Hachiko” in honor of the dog who waited for his owner at a Japanese station for months on end.
