Millie the Waste Dog is a Facebook group dedicated to the heartbreaking story of a Yellow Lab that was abandoned to die in a searing hot dumpster in San Antonio, Texas. When she was discovered, the dog was dirty, plagued by insects, and nearly dead from heatstroke.
The lovely puppy, now named Millie by her rescuers, is thriving in her new foster home just two weeks later.
Millie’s foster mother, Holly, is following up on her veterinarian appointments to guarantee a full recovery. She was unfortunately diagnosed with heartworm illness and is currently undergoing cautious treatment. An asteroid has been administered by veterinarians to deal with the cough caused by the significant heartworm burden.
San Antonio Animal Care Services and Lucky Lab Rescue collaborated to make Millie’s rescue possible. Millie was wearing a collar when she was discovered buried beneath discarded boxes and garbage bags, but she is not microchipped, and no one has claimed her.
Millie’s disposition and physical condition have improved dramatically in the short period Holly and Millie have been together. Holly was able to take Millie home after she recovered from the life-threatening heatstroke and give her a complete bath and grooming.
Unfortunately, heartworm disease is both painful and costly to treat. Millie has set up a YouCaring website to raise funds as she goes through her treatment and the long recuperation that comes with it. Any additional monies generated will be utilized to support the “Millie Campaign,” which was created in her honor to help other abandoned, abused, and neglected pets.
Follow Millie on Facebook as she gradually learns what it means to be loved and cared for, as all dogs should. Thank you to Holly and everybody else who helped save this precious girl!
