A dog and her 9 newborn pups were discovered inside a sealed cardboard box at the Puntzi Lake Landfill in British Columbia, Canada.
Someone abandoned this puppy and trapped them within the box, preventing them from escaping. However, the dogs were discovered by a caring individual who promptly rushed them to the veterinarian.
The mother dog was quite skinny and malnourished at the time. She appeared to have given birth a week before they were discovered. She continued to care for and feed her pups despite her bad health.
After spending the night at the vet, the family was moved to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a non-profit organization (BC SPCA). The BC SPCA is committed to the protection of injured animals and strongly opposes animal cruelty.
The mommy dog focused on her puppies at the BCSCPA’s Quesnel and District office in Canada, as the team fed her and nursed her back to health. She was apprehensive at first. Perhaps her uneasiness stemmed from previous painful experiences, but she eventually let down her guard.
The mother dog was eventually given the name “Casey” by the shelter. She’s a beautiful dog who gets along with everybody at the shelter. Casey and her babies were found by somebody who took action, and the shelter staff is pleased today.
Casey’s puppies are currently maturing. When they are at least two months old, they will be eligible for adoption. Casey and her pups remain at the same shelter until then.
Casey and her puppies are still missing, and the BC SPCA is actively seeking them. Furthermore, the BC SPCA warns the public that abandoning their animals is a terrible and unlawful act. If a pet owner is having trouble caring for his or her animals, instead of leaving them, he or she should contact a local rescue or animal shelter.
