Betty, a five-week-old kitten who had been abandoned, was rescued and taken to Jelly’s Place Animal Shelter in San Pablo, California.
“I volunteer at Jelly’s Place, a non-profit shelter. Somebody in the neighborhood found her abandoned and took her in. Kendal Benken, a volunteer, told Bored Panda, “Our best hypothesis is that she was a kitten in a feral colony.”
The kitten was terrified and refused to be touched. “At first, she was terrified and hissed a lot. “No one was able to touch her,” Kendal claims. “We couldn’t tell if she was a man or a woman.” She was barely 5 weeks old at the time and had probably never had any human contact.” She continued.
Kendal spent time earning Betty’s trust. To carry the kitty home, she had to wrap herself in a towel.
Kendal’s two rescue pups investigate the new family member right after being brought home. Despite the kitten’s lack of friendliness, the two dogs, particularly the Labrador Truvy, were enthralled by her.
“Truvy LOVES kitties!!” Kendal said. In a previous life, she must have been a mother cat. When I held her, she was continually kissing her head.”
Betty gradually emerged from her shell over the next few weeks, and after Truvy’s sincere effort, they became friends. “I suppose Betty just accepted it as normal for a large dog to clean you because she was so young.”
Betty adored Truvy and would sleep on her whenever she had the chance,” Kendal adds.
Betty was converted into a playful and affectionate feline ready for adoption because of Truvy’s love and attention. “Once Betty got over her fear, she turned into a wonderfully sweet, lively kitten.”
It was quite difficult for me to let her go. I adored her, but Roz was the ideal companion for Betty! We’re still in touch. So I’ve gotten to see Betty grow up,” Kendal explains.
Betty and Truvy’s bond will endure despite the fact that they were adopted into different homes. Consider fostering cats and dogs; the benefits will be multiplied a hundredfold.
