Covid, a dumped dog with that very unusual name, was rescued from…

This dog is a crossbreed that includes the American Staffordshire Terrier.

Covid was the former owner’s name for the dog.

After his owner abandoned him, Covid wound himself in a Texas shelter.

The dog was suffering from an ear infection.

According to statistics, roughly 20-25 percent of the animals in the shelter where the puppy was placed are euthanized.

However, Covid was fortunate in that he was discovered by a married couple working on an animal rescue project.

Loretta, 48, of Gracie’s Project, initially had no intention of adopting such a puppy. But she couldn’t help herself.

“It’s difficult for Pitties in Texas right now since there are so many of them; they’re difficult to adopt, difficult to relocate,” Loretta chuckles. “But when I saw his face, I said, “Oh God, we have to save him.”

Covid was given a new name at the shelter: he is now known as Carl. He was also free of health issues.

And, above all, he is a very cute dog!

“He’s just a big ol’ snuggle bug!” says the narrator. He’s got nearly 65 pounds of muscle and a lot of love. “He likes to sit on your lap, kiss you, and wag his tail,” the temporary owner says admiringly.

Karl-Covid has recently bloomed!

And, despite the fact that they are still seeking permanent owners, he is content in his new home and receives all of the attention he desires.

Articles about empty shelters occurred in the media during the height of the pandemic.

People then took pets to keep them company and to stroll with them amid the movement restrictions.

However, life has returned to normal, with people going to work and refusing to accept pets.

“I have never seen anything like the number of animals surrendered in the last two months.” This is because all of these folks had dogs at home and are now returning them,” Loretta explains angrily.

It’s difficult to comprehend how such a “large baby” could be handed away.

Now she’s on the lookout for the perfect candidate to play Carl’s friend and companion, and he may be moving into his new house shortly.
