After being saved from a fire, a firefighter finds a foster family for a homeless puppy…

We’ve seen a lot of stories about firefighters rescuing people who are in need. Firefighters can always be counted on to save the day, whether it’s rescuing pets from freezing waters or clearing logjams.

However, on rare occasions, firemen go above and above the call of duty to ensure that these pets arrive at their bases and have a safe place to stay.

That was the case recently after a compassionate firefighter provided a foster home for a puppy who had been rescued from a fire.

The little dog was spotted after firefighters from the Sacramento Fire Department responded to a debris fire, according to CBS Sacramento.

The puppy was still alive, but he was suffering from the effects of the fire.

Firefighter Mike Thawley told CBS that “he had a lot more plastic, burned plastic, on top of his fur region on top of his reverse (and on) top of his head.” ” He has a small burn on his hind leg down below.”

Not only did the fire service save the dog, but they also made sure he had a safe place to recover.

The captain of the department contacted Thawley to ask if he’d be willing to foster the dog. The firefighter, who had previously volunteered to nurture rescued animals, consented.

Thawley is now caring for the dog in his home as Front Street Animal Shelter searches for a forever home for him.

The pup is now healing and starting to open up to his foster family after being placed in a nice environment.

“When we gave him water, a bath, and some food, he brightened up enough,” Thawley told CBS Sacramento. “We began removing part of the plastic, and gradually (his) personality began to emerge, tail waving, following us around, and biting.”

A pit bull named Chunk had been left caged up to a hedge and was suffering from mange five years ago when the firefighter took him in. He eventually adopted Chunk as his pet.

It’s unclear where this fire-saved puppy will end up, but rest assured that he’ll be in good care until he finds his forever home.

The pup is unnamed, according to a Facebook post from the Sacramento Fire Department, and they’re seeking the public’s help in coming up with a suitable name. Names like “Lucky,” “Scrappy,” and “Sparky” has been offered by commenters.

We’re very relieved that this puppy is safe and in a wonderful foster family! Thank you to this firefighter who went above and beyond to assist this dog!
