Delilah was a terribly neglected tiny dog that was returned to her original home by force. When she initially came, the dog was startled – which was understandable given that all she had known in her life was curiosity.
She was also an elderly dog, therefore she was given to The Mr. Mo Project, a non-profit organization. Chris and Mariesa Hughes of Clifton Park, New York, run the deliverance, which has seen its fair share of senior pets over the years.
Nothing had prepared Chris and Mariesa for what they were about to witness. Delilah, the poor little thing, was in bad shape. Her fur was so matted that it was cutting off the blood supply to her leg and making walking difficult for her.
Even still, the poor canine was suffering from a broken jaw from the past, as if that wasn’t horrible enough. It wasn’t addressed, therefore it didn’t heal properly, and none of her teeth were aligned as a result. As a result, she was only marginally edible.
Chris and Mariesa welcomed her into their fur family and brought her home with them. Delilah was revealed to be a genuinely lovely dog beneath her scarred exterior.
“It simply blew my mind how somebody could have a canine like this,” Chris told The Dodo about her health situation. Just in a similar dreadful state.”
Delilah’s foster family tried their hardest to care for her, but her health difficulties were too critical. Her frontal limb had to be reattached, and she had to have all of her teeth out. Even so, she was in for a hard recuperation after her procedures. But it was a new chapter in Delilah’s life, and she thrived!
Delilah’s personality began to emerge without her frontal limb, according to Mariesa, and she ended up with a “very distinct canine,” actually on three legs.
The small dog quickly became a valued member of the household. Chris and Mariesa couldn’t fathom their lives without the little puppy, so they decided to adopt her as a family member.
The pair showed their affection for Delilah by giving her her very own collar – pink, of course! And all of this happened when she was being presented with her collar as an official member of the family.
Mariesa continued, “She’s now the canine she’s always wanted to be, and she may not have allowed that to happen.”
“She was a scared, skittish, unhappy girl when we acquired her,” the delighted family wrote on Instagram after relinquishment. She’s fierce and magnificent now, and she attempts to help me by reprimanding the big tykes for bad behavior. She supervises from the back of the sofa or from the cushion above my head.”
We’re overjoyed that Delilah will be able to find the loving home she deserves.
