A woman discovered a dog on the side of the road.
He wasn’t moving, so she assumed he’d died. She started crying, but the dog’s paw moved in response. When she got a closer look, she noticed his chest rising and falling, but only slightly. The poor puppy was suffocating from lack of oxygen.
The dog had been abandoned and was on the edge of death. A friend was summoned to assist the woman. She wished and hoped that her friend would show up on time. A lady’s buddy works at a local shelter as a volunteer. He’d be able to tell you just what to do! When he arrived and saw the dog, he was taken aback. He couldn’t even get out of bed since the dog was so weak.
The man and his partner used a sheet, similar to a stretcher, to transport the dog to their vehicle. They hurried over to the veterinarian’s office. The veterinarian and his colleagues promptly got to work.
They were concerned about the dog, who had not yet awoken. His blood testing revealed the reason for this. He was very anemic as a result of starvation. He was also dehydrated and in the early stages of hypothermia.
The vet first gave him IV fluids before arranging for a blood transfusion. He needed his hemoglobin to rise or he wouldn’t survive. The dog made incredible development in just a few days. He couldn’t even sit up and was now standing, anxious to enjoy a proper dinner!
This poor child had not seen real food in a long time. He devoured everything and then asked for more! The veterinarian is thrilled that the dog, who had been on the edge of death, has recovered.
