For our retirement, the majority of us desired to travel far and relax. Initially, Leslie Robinson’s intention was to retire in the Himalayas when he reached 70 years old. He came to a halt in Tamil Nadu, India, where he was inspired to stay for the next ten years.
During his visit, as an animal enthusiast, he learned that local officials plan to kill street dogs in order to manage the population.
He has made 100 phone calls in an attempt to postpone the plan and has proposed an alternate population control method. He establishes the Arunachala Animal Sanctuary and Rescue Shelter instead of traveling to the Himalayas.
Robinson now works with a group of 23 people to assist as many stray dogs as possible. Water and food are provided for the dogs at the shelter, as well as space to explore, veterinary treatment, and plenty of cuddles.
Leslie Robinson’s decision to work in animal rescue is extremely inspirational. Thousands of animals in India are alive now because of his generosity.
Robinson started with his own money and was later helped by private donations. However, the shelter is never able to meet its financial needs, and the number of animals in need continues to rise. If you were moved by Robinson’s story and want to assist the shelter continues to operate, you can do so here.
