Motorcyclists Save an Ignored Dog Left in a Cage On The Side Of A Street…

Bret Winingar and his son Zach were riding their motorcycles through the countryside near Little Rock, Arkansas, when they came across an old pet carrier in a field off to the side of the road. When they stepped inside to investigate, they were shocked to see a malnourished dog imprisoned inside.

The dog was severely underweight, her nails had curled back into her paws, and the interior of her box was littered with feces. When they returned with a bag of kibble, they discovered the kennel had a hole chewed out of the top. The poor dog has to have attempted to get out by chewing!

She was slumped over from being inside the cramped crate for too long when they enticed her out with the food.

They fed her a few nibbles before quickly leaving to find a truck to bring her in. Charlie Bravo, or CB for short, was her name. She expressed her appreciation to her rescuers as soon as she was inside their truck.

When they arrived home, the first thing they did was cut her ingrown nails. The next step was to clean her up and make arrangements for her to see a veterinarian.

CB is estimated to be roughly 8 months old by veterinarians. They took care of her body sores, which were most likely caused by her confinement. They don’t sure how long CB was locked in the crate, but her normally white paws were discolored dark from her waste and urine, so it must have been a long time. CB may have been in the container for more than a month, according to Bret.

CB’s tale quickly went viral (thanks to their Facebook page), and the family received donations from social media to fund CB’s medical expenses. The Winingars intend to donate any additional funds raised for CB to local animal shelters, as well as establish their own rescue animal foundation, suitably dubbed ‘Charlie’s Angels.’

Bret has four rescue dogs under his roof, so he’s no stranger to them. He had no intention of keeping CB at first, but after nursing her back to health, he couldn’t let her go.

CB’s time in a caring home has done wonders for her in the month since her rescue. She’s grown in size, her wounds are healing, and she’s transformed from a fearful, nearly feral dog to one who enjoys cuddling and playing with her new family.

Thank glad the Winingars came to a halt and examined the contents of that crate! Share their touching story about CB’s rescue with your friends and family!
