Peanut is a cute little guy. The Pit Bull hybrid puppy was unwell and in serious need of help when she arrived at an Arizona shelter. Peanut was at the Willcox Animal Shelter at the time, and Nadine Sipos Swart learned that unless someone stepped forward to help, the poor dog would be put down.
Nadine, an advocate for homeless animals in Arizona, took a snapshot of Peanut and every other animal in the shelter that day and shared it on Facebook. What happened next, Nadine told DogHeirs.com:
“I was told at the shelter that if they couldn’t find her a home, they were going to have to put this 5-month-old pit puppy down.” Her health was deteriorating… This is a disaster. She had Demodex mange and was quite unwell.”
Peanut’s photo received over 27,000 views after she shared it on Facebook. “I was astounded,” Nadine wrote. “However, things improve. “This photo reached the one individual who was willing to act and save her through over 250 shares.”
“On 3/15, Joshua Cummings’ tears of delight transformed into tears of pleasure when he saw her photo for the first time. Kelly from the shelter drove the puppy to California, where Josh met her.”
“This is what networking can accomplish… “Josh called this tiny Pit Peanut after my daughter,” Nadine wrote. “I couldn’t be happier because that is precisely who she is.” Peanut is a cute little guy.”
Following that, months of medicinal baths, a special diet, and a lot of gentle loving care were required. Peanut improved gradually but steadily.
“That poor ill puppy who had been sitting in the corner of her kennel with her head down is now playing with her siblings and is happy to be alive,” Nadine wrote.
Seeing these before and after photographs demonstrates exactly how far Peanut has come!
“I am overjoyed for this little girl,” Nadine added. “It only took a few people to see past her condition and see a beautiful baby, but Josh saw it first.” He deserves to be called a hero.”
Peanut is a fantastic example of what can happen when a shelter dog is given a chance!
Peanut made a full recovery thanks to Josh and his wife’s gentle love and care, and she is one lucky and happy puppy!
