“Dogs are man’s best buddy,” says John Miller, president and CEO of America’s Vetdogs. “Ultimately, Sully fulfilled that role for one of the country’s most prominent persons and really worked to shine a light on the services that are accessible to everyone.” Sully was the first to be trained by the aforementioned non-profit.

Sully gave Bush loyal companionship and day-to-day assistance for six months. Sully rose to fame in 2018 after a photo of him laying next to Bush’s flag-draped coffin went viral.

Sully continues to work as a facilities dog at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after his service with the 41st President. While in the hospital center, the caring Lab consoles veterans and their families in this role.

Sully has not forgotten his time with the Bush family, despite his new responsibilities. Jenna Bush Hager and her girls received a video call from the dog on Veteran’s Day.

Poppy says, “Hello, little doggy; I want to hug you.” “Do you remember Great Gampy?” Mila asked the dog. In this video, the dog nods his head yes.
