Hope For Paws received a call about a fearful, injured dog in desperate need of assistance.
Mike Badger, a kind Samaritan, had been feeding the homeless dog every day, and when he came across Hope For Paws, he knew they were the people to contact.
Badger led volunteers from Hope For Paws to the dog’s customary hiding place, but he wasn’t there. They later discovered him sleeping against a wall in an industrial area that led to a parking lot and a major street. They didn’t want the dog to run into traffic, so they had to be cautious while still acting rapidly.
The dog was so terrified that as soon as he saw rescuers approaching him, he bolted. They pursued him into the parking lot, eventually catching him with a net.
The terrified puppy yelped and struggled to break free from the snare, but he had no idea that these strangers were there to assist him. He eventually calmed down and took the rescuers’ meal.
They gave him the name Masik and took him to the veterinarian, where he was thoroughly inspected. He had dirty, matted hair and fleas all over his body. He was so matted that doctors had to put him under general anesthesia to shave it all off.
He also had a crushed pelvis, according to X-rays. Dr. Antonio Pedraza performed the surgery, which was fortunately successful.
Masik is now recovering in a foster home run by L.A. Animal Rescue. He’s already on the mend, but all he needs now is a forever home…
