We would go to prayer and beg God for help as we faced hardships in life. Our prayers are answered in the same way as the prayers of these dogs.
The church Paróquia de Sant’Ana Gravatá, led by Father Joo Paulo Araujo Gomes, began a program in which homeless and abandoned dogs were presented in mass every Sunday.
The church’s doors are open to those pets in need of love and care. Whether you believe in God or the goodness of humanity, this place has improved.
Father Joo wanted the churchgoers to notice the dogs, so he placed them in the center of the sanctuary where everyone could see them.
“They will always be able to enter, sleep, eat, drink, and find shelter and protection, for this house belongs to God, and they belong to God.” Father made a post on Facebook.
Father Joo also encourages others in the community to adopt pets. He is extremely inspirational, and he inspires people to hope that the world can still be a better place to live.
His actions result in these dogs getting forever homes. He has a couple of nice lads of his own.
“I assisted a number of dogs that were suffering from major health issues. Some of them were adopted after I brought them to the parish home. Three of them chose to stay with me. They are now my children and sleep in my bed,” Father Joo explains.
This is one of many stories about dogs finding shelter in churches, yet Father Joo’s selfless gesture remained unrecognized. He went viral and became an inspiration for people who are unable to speak up for themselves.
