The story of this pitbull dog is a remarkable “miracle.” Prepare the tissues.
Officer Jason O’Neal was dispatched to a community dumpster in a Georgia apartment complex.
While tossing trash away, a householder heard what sounded like weeping coming from the dumpster and instantly dialed 911.
A similar crying sound was heard by O’Neal, a patrol officer with 13 years of experience.
O’Neal told Daily Paws, “It literally shocked me.” “It was that strange noise.”
He examined the bin and discovered a trash bag containing a pit bull puppy and a blanket.
O’Neal was worried because the temperature was only 24 degrees (-4 degrees) that day.
“She was literally freezing when I grabbed her out of the trash bag,” he recalls. “I just started massaging her down to warm her up right away.” You could see she hadn’t been fed in a long time and was on the verge of dying.”
The policemen were taken aback by the tragic reality that this puppy was facing, and they knew they only had a limited amount of time to get her the help she required.
They hurried the sick puppy to Atlanta West Veterinary Hospital, where she was treated by a team of veterinarians.
“It was freezing, but luckily there were some employees caring for other dogs nearby, so they began to work on the dog and were able to save her life.”
According to O’Neal, the dog’s temperature was too low to register when they checked it.
The poor abandoned puppy was dehydrated, severely underweight, and suffering from the consequences of malnutrition.
Even with the quick therapy, she was receiving, they were worried she wouldn’t make it.
After a series of life-saving measures, including an emergency blood transfusion, the pup appeared to be on the mend.
O’Neal knew he was going to bring her home at this point, and he even knew her name.
“Like a Christmas Miracle,” he called her Miracle.
She was ready to start her new life after a few days in the hospital with round-the-clock care.
“My kids fell in love right away,” O’Neal says. “She’s wreaked havoc on this family.” It’s insane.”
