For a week, a dedicated six-year-old Labrador named Toto did not leave the Pablo Soria Hospital in San Salvador de Jujuy (Argentina).
The dog was anticipating his owner’s arrival and was unaware that he had died. And the dog was just forgotten by the man’s relatives.
The dog did not exit the facility through the side door next to the main entrance. Soon after, a cardboard box was placed there for him, along with a piece of cardboard as bedding.
When photographs of Toto began to circulate on social media, local humane organizations were quick to respond. They also resolved to look after the dog’s fate.
Because the deceased owner’s relatives were uninterested in Toto, it was decided to begin looking for new owners.
“And this person must live somewhere far away from here, in a house with secure doors, so the dog does not escape.” Otherwise, he’ll inevitably return to the hospital’s doors,” explains volunteer Fatima Rodriguez.
The animal rights activists were able to take the dog to their home after he sat at the door for a week.
He is currently undergoing sterilization. He was also examined by a veterinarian prior to that.
Labrador Retrievers are regarded as being one of the most obedient dogs. And it’s no coincidence that they’re frequently utilized as therapy dogs, guide dogs, and rescue dogs.
