Violet found herself alone and terrified at a kill shelter. She was very undernourished and terrified. Because of her terrible health, she would have been terminated immediately.
Thankfully, Whitney, an I Stand With My Pack volunteer, heard about the Shar-Pei and rushed to rescue her.
After rescuing Violet from the shelter, the first stop was at the veterinarian’s clinic. The helpers were apprehensive about finding out how much she weighed. Violet’s bones were visible to the naked eye. A Shar-Pei should weigh between 40 and 60 pounds, according to the calculations. Violet was in her early twenties. Their hearts ached for the hapless canine. Why would somebody do such a thing to a helpless animal?
Violet was upset, so Whitney tried to soothe her down by petting her. Every vertebra in her spine was palpable. Then Whitney knelt down, and Violet’s expression reinforced her assumptions. Violet had no concept of love. For the sweet girl, this was a watershed moment. Her life was about to change drastically!
Violet began to discover what it meant to have regular meals and a caring mother once she moved into her foster home with Whitney. Violet learns how to play with toys and even has her own bed. Whitney was overjoyed the first time she stepped across it.
Violet gained weight as the weeks passed. She, too, gained new knowledge. How to play with your dog’s mates and everything you need to know about happy doggy zoomies! She discovered new things that she enjoyed. Everyone was ecstatic to see her grow into a happy, healthy puppy!
