During a year of service in Iraq, he was able to rescue a number of lives while still maintaining his spirits.
Nick Pierzchalski, a member of the Army National Guard, flew several wounded men to safety during his dangerous military duty.
Because he was far from home, the black hawk pilot sought solace in a dog he came across on occasion in the war zone. The puppy was walking around by itself near their hangar.
Then he approached Nick and befriended him right away. It was completely unexpected for Nick, and he was ecstatic to have such a pleasant, caring companion throughout his difficult service months.
Airys was the name he gave to the stray dog, who was just a few months old. Nick and his friends constructed a kennel for her new friend and began caring for her, feeding her soldier chow. He may order some dog chow for her canine companion later.
Nick and Airys grew to be inseparable. Nick treasured this friendship since Airys kept his spirits up and brightened his days. She was also a source of joy and a reminder of his home for him.
But, as his duty tour came to an end, it was time to say goodbye to his pet puppy. The thought that he should leave Airys crushed Nick’s heart. He made the decision to move his beloved pet to his loving house, providing her with a better, more comfortable, and quiet life.
And due to the SPCA and Baghdad Pups Operation, who coordinated the delivery of the gorgeous dog, his plans came true. Nick was at Tampa International Airport to greet Airys after several months apart.
He was both elated and disturbed at the prospect of his beloved pet forgetting about him.
Airys was imprisoned, but she was also ecstatic. When Airys walked out of the cage, she ran straight to her human and began licking his face while happily wagging her tail.
Nick was in tears and overjoyed at the prospect of finally hugging his dearest furry companion.
