The dog in this story is a fierce combatant. Homeless animals face a variety of difficulties, and while Billy would not have survived much longer on his own, he was still fighting for his life. Billy was observed by a couple as he walked past their home.
When Bill observed Billy outside his window while sitting at his computer, he was surprised. He summoned his wife to come to check what was going on. Bill’s wife Krista exclaimed, “That’s not a deer!” The narrator exclaims, “That’s a dog!”
The pair acted quickly. They requested aid, and a rescue team was dispatched to search the nearby woods for the emaciated white dog. At long last, his tiny head appeared! Billy was immediately taken to the veterinary. The dog was terribly dehydrated and malnourished. He was nothing but skin and bones since he was so frail.
At the vet’s office, Krista and Bill waited. Krista recounts how she fell in love with Billy right away in the video below. The look in his eyes, the pain he was going through, everything that drove him to keep fighting– all of these things drew her in for the rest of her life.
Billy was starving. He wanted to eat anything and everything he could get his paws on. However, the medical team concluded that he’d have to eat carefully if he wanted to keep the weight off. Nobody knew if he’d make it, but he had a lot of fans rooting for him.
The next day, on the other hand, things were looking up. Billy was fighting bravely, and the IV fluids and nutrition were helping him. He was able to move around with greater ease. His sluggishness was fading away. The only disadvantage was that his medical bills continued to rise. The two of them were utterly taken aback. At that moment, the “Saving Billy” fundraising campaign began. Everyone in the neighborhood was ready to help! It was simply amazing!
Billy was soon well enough to leave the veterinarian’s office. Krista was certain she wanted to be his foster mother, and there was no way her husband, Bill, could stop her. Krista and Billy, as previously said, had an instant connection.
Billy was ecstatic to be leaving the clinic, but he knew that transitioning to life at home would be challenging. Billy needed a special diet as well as physical therapy. It took a lot of commitment, but Krista never gave up.
With the passage of time, Billy gained weight and began to relax. He has new canine siblings, too! Billy and Remington, one of his canine brothers, became inseparable.
Seeing Billy on this adventure just confirmed what Krista already knew in her heart: this dog was meant to be with them for the rest of their lives. Billy had officially become a “foster fail” at that point.
