For six long and happy years, Anna Halcin and her beloved dog, Sebastian, were inseparable. Whatever life threw at Halcin, the tiny puppy never failed to make him smile.
Halcin told The Dodo, “He was and always will be precious to me.” “We were inextricably intertwined.”
Sebastian’s feelings for Halcin would manifest in a variety of ways, one of which he’d invented totally on his own.
Sebastian would approach Halcin and place his small paws on his arm at the right moment.
Halcin recalls, “He liked hugging my arm.”
However, as much as they enjoyed their time together, it couldn’t last forever. Sebastian passed away in October of the previous year.
Halcin was heartbroken after being separated from her beloved pet. But, in the midst of her grief, she had a brilliant idea for keeping Sebastian near to her heart for the rest of her life.
“I wanted something that would always remain with me, no matter what,” Halcin added, “and a tattoo felt like the appropriate solution.”
Sebastian’s favorite pose led her to make a design that looked like it:
Sebastian embraces Halcin in spirit, just as he did in life, as that wonderful tribute commemorates.
“Every time I look down, it appears like he’s holding me,” Halcin continued. “It’s a lot easier for me to deal with now.”
Even though Sebastian is no longer with Halcin, he still makes her laugh and consoles her when she is in need. That’s how he’d always done it.
Sebastian’s memory now lives on in the hearts of others thanks to the tattoo that was given to him in his honor.
The tattoo, as well as the cute little puppy who inspired it, received an outpouring of well-wishes and appreciation after Halcin shared it with a pet loss support group on Facebook.
Sebastian’s hug is still going strong.
“After that, so many people messaged me with photos of their dogs who looked identical to him, and I see him in every single one of them,” Halcin continued. “Every time he says, ‘Hi, Mama,’ I want to think it’s him.”
