One of the most common fears among pet owners is turning around to find their pet has vanished. It’s difficult to be parted from your cherished pet. Anxiety, worry, and melancholy all rolled into one is a dreadful feeling, especially if it’s been a long time since you’ve been apart from your pet.
When this man lost his dog, he was devastated for 2 years.
Bill Ballato, of Westerley, Rhode Island, shared his home with Bosco, a nine-year-old Beagle mix. Ballato’s neighbors would primarily see him walking about the neighborhood with Bosco on short or long walks. As a result, they saw how close he was to his dog and realized how strong their attachment was.
Unfortunately, when Ballato returned to his backyard one day, he discovered an empty leash on the ground. He reasoned that as soon as the leash was untangled, Bosco would bolt. He yelled loudly in the hopes that Bosco would hear him, but he was unsuccessful.
Ballato did not give up hope in his search for his faithful companion.
Ballato, like any other concerned pet owner, put up missing posters all over the area, contacted the local police and animal shelters, and inquired for any witnesses. His uneasiness and anxieties got more, yet he persisted in his search for Bosco.
Days passed and he still hadn’t heard anything positive about his dog Bosco, who had gone missing. Ballato became increasingly melancholy, worried, and despairing after the dog vanished. He then relocated to Lafayette, Colorado, after leaving Rhode Island. His grief over his lost puppy didn’t go away even then.
Ballato never gave up hope, and he worked tirelessly to locate even a sliver of encouraging news about Bosco. The man never stopped worried despite the passage of time. Despite these concerns, Ballato told Fox31 in 2016:
“There were evenings, especially after huge storms, when I wondered if he’d make it, but something told me he’d make it.”
One fateful day, a message of hope and relief arrived in Ballato’s inbox.
A Rhode Island cop sent Ballato a message one day, saying he had seen a dog with the same description as Bosco in the parking lot. Ballato was already feeling hopeful and relieved after hearing such good news, even if he hadn’t confirmed it himself. He wasn’t alone, as he received a lot of assistance, particularly from Homeland Security’s Sheila Graham, who offered to plot to apprehend Bosco in her leisure time.
Graham set his traps deftly and executed the assignment flawlessly. It didn’t take long for Bosco to be safely ensconced in the cage. Graham quickly informed Ballato, who was evidently ecstatic to hear of the triumph. He was eager to meet Bosco once again.
Graham noticed Bosco’s ears perking up during the call, and she knew the dog was hearing his owner’s familiar voice over the phone. When Bosco heard his owner, he couldn’t help but stand, bark, and wag his tail in delight.
Ballato could also hear his howling dog on his phone, which made him happy and relieved.
Following the talk, Graham arranged for Bosco to be reunited with Ballato once more. Bosco, on the other hand, took some time to digest the reunion with his owner due to the time and distance he had spent apart. Ballato, of course, hugged his dog tightly after seeing him for the first time in two years.
It’s wonderful that they’ve reunited. It didn’t take long for Bosco and Ballato to make up for the years they had spent apart. They are unquestionably the best of pals.
