Lor, James Craigmyle’s dog, has a special affinity with him. Lor was by Craigmyle’s side as a K9 officer for the past eight years of his duty as Deputy Sheriff of Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Lor served Officer Craigmyle through thick and thin, and the two did everything together. The couple may be familiar to viewers of the show LivePD, since cameras tracked them about during pursuits in Missouri.
“Lor was a terrific police dog because of his bravery, heart, and never-say-die attitude,” Craigmyle said. “Whether it was sniffing out illegal substances or apprehending fleeing individuals, he was an invaluable member of our team.”
Lor began acting abnormally in the months following Craigmyle and Lor’s retirement. Lor’s vigilant father noticed something was wrong as he was breathing deeply and had a high fever.
Lor’s intestines had a tumor that had ruptured, and the vets at the emergency hospital told him he only had a 50-50 chance of surviving. K9 Lor was not about to surrender easily. The German Shepherd made it through surgery and stayed in the hospital for a week.
Lor’s medical fees were completely covered because to the generosity of Project K9 Hero.
Craigmyle is now a reserve deputy sheriff, and he happily admits to spending time with Lor and wrapping his medicines in cheese slices.
“After so many years of working together, we’ve created an inseparable friendship,” Craigmyle said. “We were always reliant on one other, and owning a dog teaches you a lot about compassion and companionship.”
Congratulations, and we wish you both a happy and healthy retirement!
