Ethan, a rescue dog, was on the verge of death just over a month ago. He was discovered alone in a parking lot, weighing less than half of his normal weight. Staff at the shelter weren’t sure if he’d make it at first, but they kept battling for him.
All of their hard work paid off in the end. After achieving his target of 80 pounds, Ethan now appears to be in better shape than ever. Ethan was reunited with the humans who rescued his life to commemorate this feat. The 11-year-old child who assisted in the search for Ethan was pleased to see the puppy happy and healthy.
Ethan Achieves His Objective!
Ethan weighed barely 38 pounds when he came at the Kentucky Humane Society. But he recently accomplished his 80-pound target! That means he put on weight in a month than he lost. You might not even recognize Ethan is the same dog if you saw him now.
Ethan was discovered in the parking lot that day by Shawn Henderson, David Hughes, and their son Tatum. Their foresight and fast thinking were instrumental in saving his life. But they haven’t stopped worried about whether the puppy would survive since that day. Tatum was the one who was most concerned.
“Ethan’s improvement has been tracked every day since then.” Tatum’s grandmother reached out a few days ago to see whether her grandson might meet Ethan now that he is well. The Kentucky Humane Society commented on Facebook, “We couldn’t agree more and scheduled a meeting so Ethan could say a formal “thank you” to Tatum and his family.”
So the family gathered to see Ethan again to congratulate him on reaching his weight targets. But he was obviously a different dog from the last time they saw him.
A Positive Reunion
The family was astounded at Ethan’s growth. Henderson felt he appeared four times larger than the last time they saw him. They had seen his online updates, but seeing the advances in person was even more amazing.
The crew decided to offer Tatum a birthday present from Ethan because his 12th birthday is approaching. They presented him with a “Team Ethan” t-shirt and a card with Ethan’s paw. Tatum was overjoyed to receive so much affection from the dog, but he joked that their house dog would be jealous of this reunion.
Despite everything, Ethan’s foster parent, Jeff Callaway, is awestruck by the dog’s gentle demeanor. He enjoys snuggling with everybody he meets. Callaway, on the other hand, believes that Ethan’s story will bring attention to the many other pets in need.
“Unfortunately, his is not an isolated case. There are other dogs that are abandoned, but Callaway hopes that Ethan’s celebrity and tale will raise awareness for the other animals at the shelter and at other shelters in need.
Ethan was fully healthy enough to be neutered, and experts believe he is less than a year old after further investigation. Ethan will continue to embrace life to the fullest because every day is a new accomplishment. He’ll soon be ready to move into the forever house of his dreams!
