Nobody wanted a 16-year-old shelter dog until a family took the chance on him…

When a 16-year-old German shepherd mix named Bear was rescued from a shelter and raised by an experienced foster mom, he was suffering from dermatitis.

Renamed Norman, he slowly regained his health as well as the spotlight. Norman’s new mommy remembered, “Norman is virtually deaf, so he didn’t exactly know that I changed his name.”

“They [the shelter] realize my weakness is that the older dogs,” she says, promoting dogs from a refuge in North Houston. The least I can do is provide a soft place to rest, food, and tender loving care to these abandoned folks. They provide me with an alternative for thankfulness and importance in life.”

Norman Bear’s transformation was documented on video from the time he arrived at the shelter until he was released.

“Promoting for a sanctuary is extremely difficult, but I try to focus on the positive and recognize that I’m doing everything I can,” she says. “Norman has showed me a whole lot,” she adds of Norman. I wish that everyone can feel the affection of a senior dog.” “I like my Norman/Bear,” she told DogFull.
