Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR), an Egyptian animal rescue, frequently saves canines in need, and Anubis was no exception.
Because of animal cruelty, part of the dog’s snout has been removed.
However, he is now starting over in a loving foster home in the United States.
Certain of the Anubis photographs may be unsettling to some readers.
“He was a street dog for 8 years,” SNARR stated on Facebook, “and somebody tried to break into a house where he was on the property and they chopped his muzzle off.”
Anubis has managed to endure the centuries.
“He’s figured out how to eat on his own…
“I guess he had to figure out his own way of surviving as a street dog,” the group wrote.
He eats by tilting his head upside down, for those who are curious. “He makes a mess, tips his head, and handles just well — soft food and small pieces of rewards,” Vicky Patton Clem said.
Anubis was flown from Egypt to his new home in Texas after a foster home was found for him in Texas.
It took a group of volunteers to transport him from JFK airport in New York City to Maryland for a week’s rest, and then on to Texas via Tennessee. Anubis is settling in wonderfully with his foster family.
Despite his gruesome wounds, SNARR describes Anubis as “the sweetest, most loving guy he can be” who “can do anything any other dog can.”
After several months, Anubis’ foster family wanted to adopt him, but he didn’t get along with their larger dogs. SNARR has finally found Anubis a forever home after months of searching!
Anubis has been adopted by Kelly Hutson, owner of 6th Day Pet Services. He’s only been at her house for a few days, but she says she’s already in love with the adorable dog.
A year has passed. Anubis has made himself at home and is enjoying his new life and family.
