There are a lot of pets in shelters looking for their forever homes. However, certain animals may take longer to be adopted than others.
Unfortunately, many animals wind up waiting years for their forever homes… and beginning to wonder whether they’ll ever be able to go. However, no matter how old a dog becomes or how long they’ve been in a shelter, they deserve a second opportunity at happiness.
Now, one shelter is looking for a new home for one of their oldest dogs… using a single devastating photo to tell her entire experience
Ginger is a Labrador retriever mix who lives in Osage Beach, Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks. She’s a friendly dog who enjoys playing… Unfortunately, no one has ever taken her in.
She’s been at Dogwood Animal Shelter for for eight years, waiting to be adopted among other pets.
However, the shelter is hoping somebody will take a chance on Ginger after seeing how long she has been waiting:
Ginger appears unhappy in her kennel in a viral photo, while a placard outside reveals her story:
“Hi! Ginger here! I’ve been here for seven years, nine months, two weeks, and two days.”
“I’m a good girl!” she exclaims. I guarantee it! “All I need is a second chance.”
It’s a touching shot that’s gained a lot of attention: it’s already been shared over 14,000 times in only one day.
Ginger must be the only pet in the house, but aside than that, she’s a good dog searching for a home. She’ll be eternally grateful to you for giving her the “second opportunity” she’s been looking for.
We’re hoping Ginger gets adopted soon! If you’re interested, you can fill out an application at Dogwood Animal Shelter or by contacting them.
