Simon Cowell is all on tears on BGT after learning that a police dog was stabbed in the line of duty…

Finn, a 9-year-old German Shepherd ex-police dog, and his owner, Dave Wardell, recently featured on Britain’s Got Talent.

They dazzled the crowd and judges with their mind-reading abilities, but it was their incredible tale that had everyone in tears!

Dave was tackling an armed suspect a few months ago when the suspect suddenly struck him with a 10-inch blade. Finn instinctively defended Dave, but was stabbed in the chest and head as a result.

Dave detained the culprit and took Finn to the emergency room. Finn’s heart was unharmed, but one of his lungs had been perforated. He was taken in for emergency surgery, and the doctors were able to save his life!

Finn was hooked up to a variety of breathing assistance and machines for the following three weeks. Finn was back on the streets, battling crime and saving the day, after a long and grueling rehabilitation phase. He eventually retired, and Dave brought him home with him to live happily as a family dog!

To honor his closest friend, Dave has been advocating for “Finn’s law,” which calls for stiffer penalties for anyone who injure service dogs. It’s no surprise that a tearful Simon made a particular gesture to these two after the performance. Now that Finn is retired, we’re sure he’ll come up with even more amazing stunts to keep us all entertained!

Watch Finn and Dave make everyone tear their eyes out with their heartbreaking story in the video here:
